The Howard College Hawks are thrilled to announce the appointment of Karina Gee as the new Assistant Women's Basketball Coach, effective immediately.
"We are excited to welcome Karina Gee to our coaching staff," said Kyle Cooper, Athletic Director. "Her impressive background as both a player and a coach will be a tremendous asset to our program."
Karina's playing career began in Washington state where she achieved significant success, including earning 1st and 4th place in consecutive years in the Washington 4A Girls State Tournament and becoming the Washington State 4A South Puget Sound League Champions.
Following high school, Gee attended Centralia College in Washington, where she was a standout point guard and team captain. During her time as a Trailblazer, she earned Northwest Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honors, Northwest Athletic Conference All-First Team recognition, and helped lead the team to a 4th place finish in the Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament. Gee then transferred to Evergreen State College, continuing her roles as team captain and point guard.
Karina understands the value of education and earned an associate of arts degree from Centralia College and a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University while finishing her playing career.
Gee began her coaching journey as an Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at the high school level in Washington, where her playing career began. Concurrently, Gee coached AAU Girls basketball and served as a Coach/Trainer at the Shoot360 Training Facility, further honing her coaching skills.
In 2020, Gee advanced to the collegiate level, taking on the role of Assistant Women's Basketball Coach and Housing Coordinator at Eastern Oklahoma State College. She played a crucial role in the Mountaineers' success, contributing to numerous honors such as the 2022 OCAC Conference Championship, the 2021 Region II Tournament Championship, and the 2021 OCAC Conference Championship. Gee also helped coach the 2022 NJCAA Region II Player of the Year.
"I am incredibly honored to join the Howard College Hawks and contribute to the continued success of the Women's Basketball program," said Gee. "I look forward to working with our talented athletes and helping them achieve their goals both on and off the court."
