Makayla Ellison Claims Second WJCAC Player of the Week Honor

The freshman forward for the Lady Hawks has earned another WJCAC Player of the Week award after another solid week of action.

The week of Feb. 2-8 saw Ellison compile 18 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2 assists per game. The Frisco, Texas, native, also finished 91% from the free throw line. Ellison added three steals and a blocked shot to her record for the week.

As of Feb. 13, Ellison is ranked fourth in the league in points per game (17.5), second in rebounds per game (8.2), sixth in field goal percentage (47.4) and fourth from the three (39.7), all in her first year as a Lady Hawk.

"Mak has been playing great all season. She is a player that can score on all three levels & continues to get better in our system. If she continues to work hard, she has the potential to be the Freshman of the Year. I am very happy for her and glad I have the opportunity to coach her everyday’’, stated Head Women’s Basketball Coach Al Davis.

Ellison has been a key player for the red and black, contributing to their current 19-6 overall record and their 8-1 conference mark.

Ellison and her fellow Lady Hawks will be back in action Feb. 19 for a home matchup between Howard College and Western Texas with a 5:45 p.m. start time.
