Kyle Cooper Named National Coach of the Year

After leading the Howard College Men's Basketball team to the best season in over a decade, Head Coach Kyle Cooper has earned the National Coach of the Year title. 

The 2025-2026 season saw the Hawks complete the year with a 33-4 overall record, collecting a conference, regional and national title and a great deal of awards to go along with all their accomplishments. 

Cooper was named WJCAC Coach of the Year, Coach of the National Tournament and National Coach of the Year. 

Not only did Cooper receive several awards this season, but several Hawks also closed out the season with a laundry list of accomplishments. 

Terry Copeland was named National Player of the year, MVP of the National Tournament, First Team All-American, WJCAC Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, All-Region V Team, All-Conference Team and Region V All-Tournament Team. 

Kuai Deng found a spot amongst the All-Conference Team, Region V All-Tournament Team, All-Tournament Team (National Tournament)

Brandon Ivery earned the Defensive Player of the Year award, Region V All-Tournament Team, All-Tournament Team (National Tournament).

Daniel Culberson made the All-Conference Team and Dace Pleasant received Honorable Mention All-Conference Team honors.
