Bio

Coach Lance Russell begins his inaugural year at Howard College as the Assistant Baseball Coach with lofty goals in mind and continuing a tradition of excellence that Howard Hawk Baseball has become synonymous with. With baseball in his blood and an impressive resume to boot, Coach Russell looks to put his stamp on the Men’s Baseball team en route to another successful season.

Successful baseball players are nothing new to Coach Russell and his family as he and his brother would both play baseball at the university level. Russell’s success would gain national attention during his junior and senior years in high school at Flower Mound High in Flower Mound, Texas. Success in his junior year would earn Coach Russell a Pre-Season All-American nomination and that nod would certainly come to be true. His senior year Coach Russell would go on to earn a spot on both the All-Regional Team and the North Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star team along with Offensive MVP for The Jaguars and All-State honors.

After graduation, Coach Russell would go on to have an equally impressive collegiate baseball career that started right here at Howard. In his two years at Howard, he would amass 10 HRs,252Bs,101 hits and finish with an astronomical .352 batting average. His play at Howard then captured the attention of Division I coaches where Coach Russell would then go on to play at The University of New Mexico for the next 3 seasons.

Athletic prowess isn’t Coach Russell's only strength as he would graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal arts and a Masters Degree in Physical Education. With all these impressive accolades and a second go-around with Hawk Athletics, the future is in capable hands with Coach Russell in the dugout.
