Bio

Coach Jake Uber begins his inaugural year at Howard College as Pitching Coach, bringing with him a wealth of playing experience, resilience, and a deep understanding of the game. With a six-year collegiate career and a competitive edge shaped through multiple programs, Coach Uber looks to contribute to the continued success and tradition of excellence that Howard Hawk Baseball is known for.
A native of Nixa, Missouri, Coach Uber graduated from Nixa High School in May of 2019, where his foundation in the game began to take shape. He opened his collegiate career at Three Rivers Community College in the fall of 2019, navigating the challenges of a shortened freshman season due to COVID-19. Over the next two years, he continued to develop his craft before transferring to Fort Scott Community College for the spring 2022 semester.
During that same year, Coach Uber made a name for himself in summer ball, earning Show-Me Collegiate League Pitcher of the Year honors in 2022 while also helping lead his team to three league championships (2019, 2021, 2022). His success on the mound and competitive consistency set the stage for his next opportunity at the Division II level.
Coach Uber transferred to Southern Arkansas University, where he played from the fall of 2022 through the spring of 2024. In his first season, he played a key role in a dominant 40-18 campaign that saw the team capture both the regular season conference title and the conference tournament championship. He earned a spot on the 2023 GAC All-Tournament Team while posting a perfect 3-0 record out of the bullpen with a 3.28 ERA across 16 appearances. In 24.2 innings pitched, he allowed just one extra-base hit and was relied upon heavily during postseason play, appearing in five of the team’s nine playoff games.
His second season at Southern Arkansas was cut short due to a labrum tear, but adversity only fueled his determination. Adjusting his arm slot to a sidearm delivery, Coach Uber continued his career in the Northwoods Collegiate League with the Rockford Rivets, where he helped guide the team to its first playoff appearance in program history.
He concluded his playing career as a graduate transfer at the University of Illinois-Springfield during the 2024-2025 season. At the Division II level, Coach Uber compiled a 3-0 record with a 4.25 ERA over 36 innings pitched, tallying 32 strikeouts while allowing just two home runs and maintaining a 1.30 WHIP.
With a journey defined by perseverance, adaptability, and success at multiple levels of collegiate baseball, Coach Jake Uber brings valuable insight and experience to the Howard College dugout. His passion for player development and firsthand knowledge of overcoming adversity make him a strong asset as he helps guide the next generation of Hawk Baseball.
