After a twenty year hiatus, Mike is back at Howard College as the Head Rodeo Coach. Mike was raised in El Paso, Texas and grew up rodeoing in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma. He served as the Rodeo Coach at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas prior to coming to Howard College in 1991 were he was the Rodeo Coach until 1999.
Since then he has served in a variety of roles in Administration at various institutions across the state. Mike came back to Howard in January in a Dean’s role and then things evolved and when the opportunity to return to his true passion, working with young people in and out of the arena, presented itself, he decided to return to coaching.
Mike coached several Regional Champions in the 90’s and many of his former students went on to qualify for the PRCA and PBR finals. Mike is excited about the future and helping to build champions in the Arena and in life.
